As Customs administrations advance the digitalization of the Certificate of Origin (CO), strengthening operational and organizational capacities has become essential for improving cross-border trade efficiency. One of the practices observed globally in the digitalization of the CO is supporting system interconnectivity, which enables automated data exchange between exporting authorities and importing Customs administrations under Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
In this 40-minute module, you explore the Business Process Model (BPM) that underpins CO interconnectivity. This involves entities, actions, interactions, rules and triggers. The diagrams help to visualise the process.
Please note that all scenarios and examples are fictional. Nonetheless, they reflect real challenges and opportunities, and will help you understand the importance of a shared process for CO interconnectivity.
The development of this course was made possible through the financial support of the Customs Cooperation Fund of Korea (CCF/Korea).
